The rights in the first amendment includes freedom of religion, freedom of the press, freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, and the right to petition.
original wording:
Amendment I. Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
freedom of religion- the government cannot support, favor, or interfere with a religion.
freedom of speech and the press- anyone and everyone has the right to let their views and opinions be known, but cannot say anything they want. something said with the intention of harming someone is not protected under this right.
freedom of assembly- people can gather peacefully to do business or fix issues as long as they do not do anything illegal
the right to petition- anyone can make a request to the government and this will show the dissatisfaction of the people about something the government has done or changed.
